• La cima del Garraf, con rampas del 23%, será el ‘tesoro’ catalán de la ronda española, que se presenta el miércoles

Si se acercan por el Rat Penat con buena visibilidad contemplarán la majestuosa imagen de Port Ginesta y la playa de Castelldefels. Si van en coche, no se asusten, el motor solo querrá responder a marchas cortas, por favor, la primera. Y si van en bici, un pelín entrenados, no se inquieten si ven que tres tipos esbeltos los superan en las duras rampas del 23% como si nada. Uno será seguramente Joan Antoni Flecha, el ciclista catalán amante del Tour; otro, Israel Núñez, el flamante ganador de la Nissan Titan Desert, y el tercero, Luis Enrique, el ex del Barça que no quiere saber nada del Madrid y que coge la bici en cuanto termina el entrenamiento del Barcelona Atlètic en la Ciutat Esportiva de Sant Joan Despi.
«Si hay una cima catalana que tenga un 23%, por allí debe pasar la Vuelta». Palabra de Javier Guillén, el director de la ronda española, dispuesto a activar la prueba, a dotarla de alicientes nuevos, a devolverla al primer plano deportivo y a catalanizarla al máximo en la próxima edición (del 28 de agosto al 19 de septiembre del 2010), la del 75° aniversario, cuyo recorrido será desvelado el próximo miércoles en Sevilla.
Andaba Paco Giner, el director técnico de la carrera, el pasado miércoles con su coche y todo su sofisticado material medidor de las carreteras enfilando las costas del Garraf, camino de Port Ginesta. Era necesario comprobar la altimetría y tomar datos para que el descenso del Rat Penat, camino de una población de la costa barcelonesa, sea seguro. Por el Rat Penat transitará la Vuelta el martes 7 de septiembre del 2010. «No me lo puedo creer. Es mi montaña. Será mi etapa», confesó Flecha al conocer la buena nueva. Tan enamorado está de esta cima que sus amigos del Club Ciclista Rat Penat de Castelldefels están ultimando los preparativos para la primera edición de la marcha cicloturista Flecha Rat Penat. «En cuanto se sepa que por allí pasará la Vuelta se apuntarán 2.000 personas a la marcha, por lo menos», aseguró ayer, emocionado, Marc Obelleiro, presidente de este club.
«Es durísima, en las rampas del 23% el pulsómetro te marca que vas a 180 pulsaciones por minuto», advierte Israel Núñez, poco después de efectuar y analizar la subida para EL PERIÓDICO. «Por la cima los corredores pasarán uno a uno pero luego los favoritos se reagruparán, aunque no creo que lleguen más de 20 juntos a meta».

El plusmarquista

«Para todos nosotros será un sueño hecho realidad que la Vuelta transite por el Rat Penat. Yo creo que Valverde, Sastre y Contador, ojalá que venga, harán la subida cinco minutos más rápido que yo», indica Jordi Olivella, quien con un tiempo de 17.55 minutos se ha convertido en el plusmarquista de este durísimo ascenso, en pleno corazón del Parc Natural del Garraf.
El Rat Penat, hace nueve años, fue el escenario donde Jose Luis Laguía (cinco veces rey de la montaña de la Vuelta) se entrenó para subir el Angliru con su amigo Perico Delgado. El Rat Penat es algo así como un santuario donde tratan de exhibirse los cicloturistas de Castelldefels, El Prat, Gavà, Viladecans o Sitges. «El día que pase la Vuelta estaremos todos con el cronómetro en mano para comparar nuestros tiempos con el de de los profesionales», dice Marc Obelleiro, el presidente del club ciclista que lleva el nombre de esta subida inédita.
